About Us

We know that one size fits all education does not serve all learners.

Students at Tailored Minds Academy receive direct, explicit instruction paired with hands on practice, meaningful projects, and time to apply learning in ways that make sense to them. Reading, writing, and math are taught intentionally and systematically, while science and social studies build the background knowledge students need to understand the world and succeed across disciplines.

Learning here is structured, responsive, and deeply human.

Our mission is to provide a bespoke, student-centered education where every child receives instruction tailored to their strengths, interests, and areas of growth.

We believe strong foundations in literacy, math, science, and social studies matter. We also believe curiosity, confidence, and joy in learning matter just as much. When these elements are woven together with care, students grow not only academically but also as capable, self-aware learners.

Tailored Minds Academy was created for students who want to learn and deserve an education designed around how their minds work.

We are a small, intentionally structured school serving students with language-based learning differences and out-of-the-box thinkers who thrive when instruction is personalized, relationships are strong, and learning is grounded in evidence. Our work is rooted in the belief that children do best when they are known well, taught thoughtfully, and supported without being rushed or compared.

Who We Serve

Tailored Minds Academy serves students in kindergarten through fifth grade.

Our students may be behind, on track, or advanced academically. Many have language based learning differences such as dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia, or executive function challenges. Others are creative thinkers who need a smaller, more responsive environment to thrive.

What they share is a desire to learn, the ability to engage in a school community, and the benefit of individualized instruction delivered with care.

Community and Culture

Our school is built on mutual respect and shared responsibility.

We are a secular school that welcomes families of all backgrounds, cultures, religions, nationalities, and family structures. Students are expected to treat one another, their teachers, and their learning environment with care. In return, they are met with consistency, clear expectations, and genuine support.

A child should never have to alter who they are to be welcome at school and learn.

How the School Is Structured

Tailored Minds Academy offers flexible enrollment models designed to meet the needs of different families.

Students may attend academic programming Monday through Wednesday, enrichment and electives Thursday and Friday, or participate full time. Learning takes place in small cohorts, with instruction guided by individual readiness rather than rigid grade level assumptions.

Woven Woodlands learn best when academics feel purposeful and connected to the real world. Direct instruction is balanced with interactive practice, projects, experiments, and games, so students stay engaged while building deeper understanding. Lessons emphasize movement, problem solving, collaboration, and exploration.

What this looks like in Woven Woodlands

  • Direct teaching that is concise and targeted; followed by hands-on practice and movement based learning 
  • Math instruction that blends conceptual understanding, fluency, games, visual models, and real world problems 
  • Writing and reading workshops that mix structured lessons with independent and small group practice 
  • Project blocks in science and social studies where students investigate big ideas, research topics, learn from experts and create meaningful products 
  • Continued focus on morning movement; yoga, stretching, or calisthenics to prepare the brain for learning 
  • Whole class breaks that give students time to reset so they return ready for focused work 
  • Independent reading time each afternoon; paired with teacher check ins for comprehension and oral reading

Every Woven Woodland student receives a tailored academic plan that honors their independence and supports steady growth across all subjects. Students build confidence as readers, writers, problem solvers, and community members because their learning plan is built around their strengths, interests, and areas of growth. The curriculum is individualized, skill checklists guide content progression, and students move forward when they are ready.

  • Tailored curricula in reading, writing, and math that match each student’s learning profile 
  • Skill checklists that identify strengths, pinpoint needs, and guide instruction progression across subject areas 
  • Instruction that adapts as students progress; allowing for remediation, on level work, or acceleration
