Enrichment & Electives
Enrichment is not an add on at Tailored Minds Academy; it is a vital part of a handcrafted education. These courses strengthen executive function, social communication, persistence, and confidence. They also give students meaningful chances to practice the academic skills they build Monday through Wednesday in a new setting.
Enrichment days serve all our families; you may register for the two-day enrichment program only or combine it with our academic program for a five-day experience.
Field Experiences
Students learn best when they can explore the world around them. Depending on transportation and funding; we plan to offer field experiences twice per month. These trips may connect to gardening, engineering, art, local culture, or community science. Possibilities include nature preserves, farms, art studios, local businesses, museums, and performances. Field experiences strengthen confidence and independence; and give students chances to apply skills in public settings.

What are enrichment days?
Enrichment days give students two full days each week to explore interests, build real world skills, and express their creativity in an environment that balances structure with joy. These classes honor the same thoughtful planning found in our academic program; every lesson is organized, purposeful, and rooted in strong teaching practices. Students receive guidance from qualified educators who design instruction that fits the skill level, attention needs, and strengths of each learner. Thursday and Friday are a chance for students to stretch their thinking, try new ideas, and experience hands on learning that feels exciting and meaningful.
Why does enrichment matter?
Enrichment is an essential part of a well-rounded education. These classes build executive functions, social communication, creative thinking, and perseverance. They also give students authentic opportunities to practice reading, writing, math, and problem solving in new settings. Research shows that electives increase student engagement and support long term academic growth. When students feel connected to what they are learning; confidence rises and frustration decreases. These days help students discover talents, develop leadership skills, and build pride in their accomplishments.
Community culture on Thursdays and Fridays
Enrichment days are a powerful space for connection. Students work in small groups, rotate through hands on stations, and build friendships through shared creative tasks. Norms emphasize safety, kindness, and respect for each person’s strengths. Our community welcomes families from every background, religion, nationality, and family structure. Every child should feel valued, supported, and free to be fully themselves while at school.
How does enrichment support different learning needs?
Every student deserves access to activities that build creativity and competence. Enrichment teachers use scaffolded projects, clear routines, visual supports, and step by step instruction, so learners of all profiles feel safe, challenged, and successful. Small groups allow for individualized coaching. Choice based experiences help students pursue areas that fit their strengths and interests. Instruction is hands on, movement rich, and adapted so every child can confidently participate.
How we keep enrichment structured and purposeful.
Although enrichment and elective classes feel creative and fun; they are still academic experiences. Each class is designed with:
- A clear curriculum with defined objectives
- Sequenced projects that build skill by skill
- Qualified teachers who understand child development and learning differences
- Predictable routines that help students feel grounded
- Instruction that supports collaboration, independence, and initiative
- Assessment through portfolios, demonstrations, and completed projects
